Dr Lim Chong Hee has more than 20 years of clinical experience in cardiothoracic surgery. His clinical interests are in Minimally Invasive Lung Surgery, Heart Valve Repair and Replacement, Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery, Aortic Aneurysm Surgery and Esophagectomy for esophageal cancers. He has special interests in Heart / Lung Failure pioneering in Extra Corporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) and implantation of Left Ventricular Assist Devices.

Prior to private practice, Dr Lim had served at the National Heart Centre (NHC), Singapore, and performed thousands of surgical procedures. He was also the director of the heart and lung transplant programme at NHC, where he helmed as the lead heart surgeon, together with a large team of surgeons, performed the first heart-liver transplant in Asia. Dr Lim was appointed as visiting consultant to other centres / hospitals in Singapore, namely National Cancer Centre Singapore, Novena Heart Centre, Changi General Hospital, Tan Tock Seng Hospital, KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital, Khoo Teck Puat Hospital and National University Hospital.

He has lectured in many regional and international conferences, such as the ASEAN Federation of Cardiology, Annual Meeting of Asian Society For Cardiovascular & Thoracic Surgery and International Cardiology Conference.

Dr Lim is also an active researcher in the areas of cardiothoracic surgery, heart and lung transplantation, video-assisted thoracic surgery and the mechanical heart assist device. He is involved in various government-funded programmes.

Other than his clinical work, Dr Lim had contributed to the NUS Medical Faculty as Senior Lecturer and held the appointment of Adjunct Associate Professor with the Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School, where he taught and tutored future doctors. He has held various appointments in the Chapter of Cardiothoracic Surgeons in the College of Surgeons, Singapore such as Honorary Secretary (2005-2009) and Chairman (2009-2013).

Dr Lim graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree from the National University of Singapore in 1990. Thereafter, he earned his Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh) in 1994. He furthered his training in cardiothoracic surgery at the world-renowned Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland, USA where he trained amongst the best cardiothoracic surgeons in the world. As of 2002, Dr Lim has been a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore.
